We woke this morning to the following repeating message on the WX radio. “The National Service has issued a Tsunami Warning for coastal areas of Northern and Central California …An earthquake of magnitude 8.9 has been detected 30 miles North and 148 miles east of Hanshu Japan… estimate wave arrival time for the San Francisco Area is 8:08am PST”
Several friends and family have called, emailed, and FBd us to ask if we are alright. The fortunate fact is that we are well protected by a large mass of land. Our marina is about as far away from the gate as you can get in the central part of the SF Bay, so the waves will have plenty of time to dissipate before they arrive.
Nevertheless we are getting the boat ship shape and will be onboard and ready for any severe titdal activity. We will update this post once the threat has passed.
